I added a ribbon and thats it!! Super easy and can be done pretty quick. This would make a great house warming gift too!!

The petfect hand lotion

I know that there are homemade recipes all over the internet. This is one that I found through Pinterest. You can find the original post HEREhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif
I changed it up a bit and used the 27oz size of lotion and I used the vanilla oatmeal scent. I also only used 1/2 a the jar of Vaseline.
I made this with my son for him to give as gifts for the holidays. I will suggest that you use a mixer, you get a nice smooth texture. I have made a total of 3 batches since December.
This lotion has helped get rid of both my boys eczema, its also does wonders for hands and feet...try it out and let me know what you think!!

P.S everything can be found at Walmart, I also added a bit of vanilla oil to our batch you can find it at hobby lobby

Pinterest is deadly...

So I have been addicted to Pinterest lately. I was able to find lots of things for me to make for Christmas. I found the idea for this ornament from 2 different blogs (I do not remember where I saw them because I did not pin them) I used floor wax on the inside of the ornament and then sprinkled red glitter on the inside. It's the perfect glittered ornament...NO MESS!! The I added silver glitter to a ribbon buckle and glued everything down. Easy as that. I used the ornament in a picture for an ornament exchange, I also made a box that matched but I don't have a picture of that one.

Felted wool cup cozy

One morning I was sitting at my desk looking HERE(scroll down to the post on NOV 2nd to see the photo, I am having trouble getting the link to work properly) to see what the very talented Vicki Chrisman made. She made this cute little coffee mug cozy and little packag to put cider or hot cocoa packets in, and I wanted to make one. Now I don't have anything that she used (fancy pants products) and I am way too impatient to order them and wait ;). So I emailed and Vicki suggested using felted wool from the fabric store. I looked into that but at $19 a yard, it was not in my budget. So I went home a bit disappointed and turned to the internet. I found that you can make your own felted wool and that is exactly what I did!! I got my instructions to felt from HERE (i used a sweater from goodwill that was 80% lambs wool and cost $5, the more wool in the item the better it will turn out) Then I got my template from HERE.
Then it was just a matter of putting everything together.

I love how it turned out!! I got my coffee mug from crate and barrel outlet. Its a ceramic mug with a rubber lid and was only $6.97. I love my new mug, and so do a lot of the moms on the playground at school :)

Bridal shower goodies

The bridal shower and wedding are long over, but with my days so busy now I am just getting around to posting the things that we made for them. My mom came up with the idea to do a Chicago themed shower since my sister and Bobby had many great memories in our great city. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a stamp with the picture of Navy Pier on it...or even a Ferris wheel. I do, and it is dang near impossible. So my mom and I came up with the idea to print the skyline on paper and make it into a box. I found the original idea here

My sister really likes Carmel popcorn, so my mom made some to put inside the boxes. These really made a cute favor and looked cute on the tables

For the center pieces I came up with the idea to stamp on candles. I saw how to do it from a page on splitcoast stampers a couple of years ago...forgive me I don't have the link anymore. They looked so pretty in the room.

They are so easy to make. You stamp on tissue paper, place the image on the candle and cover it with wax paper. You use your heat gun to melt the tissue into the candle and POOF you have a pretty decorated candle.

Fabric and the Slice??

So my sister is getting married in October, and all of the typical bridal festivities have begun. We have the bridal shower coming up, and then of course the bachelorette party. I offered to make my sister the "BRIDE" shirt....you know the one that you wear to make sure that everyone in the joint knows that you're getting married and to buy you a drink. I went to Michaels looking for those pretty iron on bling letters(you know the ones that cost like 2.99 for one letter) and guess what??

They don't have them anymore....well atleast I couldn't find them
So I wandered around until I found one of Making Memories new Slice products..fusible web.
I just had to try it. At 5.00(on sale 40% off) it was worth trying. So I got it, now the next thing is what kind of fabric do I get? I went to JoAnn's and found fabric quarters and they were PERFECT...not too thick! I followed the directions when I got home and cut out all of the letters to make 5 shirts.

Yes I said 5. I was only going to make 1 for my sister, but with this being so cheap I was able to make the whole bridal party one. I used black shirts and a pink fabric. After I ironed on the letters I used silver puffy paint to outline the letters so they "pop" a little more. This was so easy to do that I am going to make Nicholas a onsie for his 4 month picture(pic to follow).

A few Layouts

Ok these are a few of my recent favorites from the last time that I have scrapbooked.(sorry that the all boy is on its side. For some reason blogger keeps on flipping it and I am tired of trying to fix it) It has been so long since I have sat down with my paper cutter and tape, and boy do I miss it. I can't wait for school to start so that I can scrap during the baby's nap time. Things have been super busy this summer. Alex is taking swim lessons and has come so far this year. He can go underwater without holding his nose, and he can do the doggie paddle(this is big because my child wouldn't even get in the water without floats on his arms, so I could forget about him going under water willingly lol) Nicholas has started to eat rice cereal(he is 10 weeks) and he is sleeping through the night(most of the time). I can't believe that summer is almost over. Till next time

Where have I been?

Holy cow, it sure has been a long time since I have posted anything. I have a ton of LO's that need to be posted but the day that I tried to upload them blogger was giving me a hard time. So I gave up...lol. I have finished scrapping 2009 photos like I wanted to, and I can now start on scrapping 2010. I now have way more to scrap about too. As some of you may know Rob and I were expecting. Well....he is here....

Nicholas Lawrence was born on May 15, 2010 at 10:21 pm. He weighed in at 7lbs 15.3oz and was 20 inches long.
Everyone is doing great!

I am going to try and upload some of the layouts that I did soon. Hopefully I will be able to make time to start scrapping 2010 photos.

The first snow of 2009

The first snow of the winter was a big one. Alex couldn't wait to get his snow pants on and go and help his dad shovel. After the front was done Alex and I went to the backyard to play with the dogs. Alex tried to play fetch with them, but it backfired. The ball kept getting lost in the snow, and Max and Chester couldn't find it.

These pictures are from our annual trip up to Lake Geneva Wisconsin. We go up with my cousins and their kids and we hang out on the beach all day. It is something that I look forward to every year. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Celina who made me a bunch of crocheted flowers. I used one of the pretty blue and white ones that she made for me.

I have a goal to finish scrapbooking all of my 2009 photos before May when the baby is due. I still have a lot left to do but yesterday I managed to get 6 layouts done with the help of my scrapbook etc. magazine. This is a layout from Easter 2009. It was our first Easter in the new house.

Pretty Flowers

I was looking through scrapbooks etc. and I saw this pretty topiary. I tried to make the flowers that they had on theirs but they didn't turn out right. So I tried making the flowers that I ended up using. I love how it turned out. From the time that I started it to when I finished it was about 4 days. It took forever to make those flowers. But I just loved how this turned out. It has made my desk look so pretty when all you see outside is gray.

Fall Fun

This is the kids first time that we lived in a house that has huge trees. Come fall Alex couldn't wait to go out and make a leaf pile to jump in. He worked for days to make a really really big pile(in his words). When he was all done he had Belle and Hannah come outside and have a leaf fight with him. They had so much fun!

Almost every year we go apple picking. At the orchard they have a huge apple holding a ruler that says "how tall this fall?" I try and remember to take a photo of each child in front of it to see how much taller they have gotten. Its really fun to go back into the previous years scrapbook and compare pictures.

Birthday Boy

This layout is also based on a layout that I saw in Scrapbooks ETC. I liked the way that they did the title. This was from Alex's 6Th birthday party. He had 17 of his closest friends at the party. It was a blast.
On the LO the blue block was made into a pocket so that I could add a few of the cards that his friends gave to him. I really like this one!!

This was an easy layout to make. I used a 12x12 transparency. These things are wonderful. All of my accents were on the page. I put my photos under the transparency so that the printed image could lay over my picture. I also added bling to look like ornaments and stars. The title was done to look like more ornaments and they actually swing on the page. I am very happy with how this came out. It was the first time I ever used a 12x12 transparency.

Ok...so I know that these pictures are old, but they have to get scrapped RIGHT?? SO these are from Alex's preschool graduation ceremony in May of 2009. He was so little then. I can't believe that in less than a year Alex can now read and write. He enjoys school so much!!

Pretty snow in March

After we moved into the new house last March we were greeted by some snow. Not that it's unusual for the Chicago land area to have snow in March, but I could have done without it. It was a heavy snow that weighed down the trees. Thank goodness it only lasted a day!

It's the Pizza Man!!!

When we asked Alex what he wanted to be for Halloween he said " Mommy, I want to be a pizza man." An odd request because I was expecting him to say that he wanted to be a pirate again. It was a great idea, so we went with it. I went to Michaels and bought a blue shirt and a black hat and some puffy paint. After I made the clothes we went to Domino's to get a pizza box. Rob glued a dowel rod to the bottom for a handle...and there you go an easy costume that only cost about 7 dollars to make. Alex was the hit of the neighborhood. Everyone loved his costume. We took Alex to the neighborhood Halloween party at the school and he won a contest for most original costume.

Sip a cup of tea with me....

I had a very hard time thinking of a gift to make for my Grandparents for Christmas. I finally came up with the idea of getting them tea(for grandma) and coffee(for grandpa) and some homemade cookies. But of course I needed something to put them in right?? So I looked through my box of goodies and found a balsa wood tray.

I painted it, and added the decorations. The tea cups were cut from a pattern that Celina found for me.(Its very hard to find one...lol) The "steam coming from the cups were cut out using the Slice and the Basics 3 card. The title was also cut from the same card. Cleina(she is awesome when I am stuck!!) also helped me with the title. I really like how this came out.

Killer Icicle's

Around here right now all of the houses have tons of Icicles on them. Some of them are very big and some are not. The picture shows one that is across the street from us. That thing is HUGE!!! It was a few inches longer but it melted before I thought to take a picture.

Matthiessen State Park

If you ever have the Chance to make it to this state park, it will be way worth it. We took the kids there for the very first time this summer, and it was a blast. We got to walk up to, play behind, and explore waterfalls. This is something that we will be doing every year from now on!! LO inspired by Julie Bonner's December Monthly Sketch!

All the papers that I used were from DCWV Christmas stack from last year. The centers are snowflake buttons from Michael's, and the ribbon is from Michael's also. Wow...this year has flown by so fast. Where did the time go? It's time to decorate our house's for the holiday's, and to get our Christmas cards made and sent. I wanted to share with you my christmas card. All colored papers are from Bazzil, the stamp set is Hero Arts(I think), and I used red stickles on some, and red bling on the others.

Alexs First day of Kindergarten

Alex had so much fun on his first day of school. I was so proud of him. He went into school on his first day with no tears. I may have shed one...but shhhhhhh don't tell.

Have you been wondering where I have been? I have been working my butt off BECAUSE i have started my own business. I will be opening an Esty.com site soon so please stay tuned. I am very excited and have been working as much as I can to make things.

I have been making light bulbs,

plaques,

and many, many frames.
I will also be selling lots of other things...such as...candles, and coasters and trivets and ornaments and decorations for Christmas. But stay tuned for more on that.

Some other exciting news is that I got to meet one of my scrapping friends this past weekend.

I have only ever talked to her when we are scrapping and we are using the web cams. It was so much fun to get to hang out and IN PERSON!!! Thank you Celina I had a blast this weekend.

Wow it has been...

A really long time since I have blogged. I have been super busy this summer, but I have managed to make a few things this week. First off I have found that if you hollow out a light bulb they make a really cool vase to hang on the wall. I found this idea while blog surfing at Lissa's page. She is an amazing artist, so you should go check her out(her post on the light bulb was done on June 10Th)

I have made 3 of them total (with more on the way...lol) They are super easy to make.

I hollowed out the light bulb by using directions that I have found on the Internet. Really easy to do, and once you have all the parts out you can get the white powder coating out by pouring salt into the bulb and swirling around. If its giving you trouble discard the salt and try sugar(it works a bit better but costs more so use the salt first :) )

I used alcohol inks by ranger to "paint" the bulb. You can also use glass pains, stazon, or even regular paint. The inks give you a really nice "see through" look.

To finish it up add wire, to make a hanger and a design if you wish. You can add beads and charms to get the desired look. And that's it...very cute!!

I have also turned a Corona bottle into a very cute vase.(original idea seen here she is amazing!!) Not much to it, just paper and ribbon :)

Just remember when adding the water to the vase(for BOTH projects) be sure to use a funnel so that you don't ruin any ribbon or paper that you have on the project :)

I have also gotten a few Lo's done. The LO above has a hand made flower by CELINA (i love scrapping with her over the web cams...and I can't wait to meet her in person in 24 days) The flourishes were cut using the SLICE and the design basics 3 card.

Nothing to special about this LO. I tried something new by sanding the edges of my pictures and I am really pleased with how it turned out! And last but not least...

Dreams do come true

This is a frame that I made from my friend Sharri that works at Michael's. The birds were cut using my slice by making memories and the fall/back to school cart. The birds are cut from the paper company CS in Bordeaux and the black CS is from Michael's in vine black and is dry embossed. Thanks for looking.

Lions, Tigers and DINOSAURS????

Lions, Tigers and Dinosaurs??? Yes that's right there are great big Dino's at the zoo.
They are so cool. The Brookfield zoo opened the exhibit this year and it runs through October. If you live in the Chicago area go check it out, four of the Dinosaurs are radio control and you can move them yourselves(Alex really liked that part). Of course Alex's favorite part was getting to eat ice cream :)

My little man has also graduated from Pre-School. I can't believe how fast he has grown up on me. It seems like just yesterday he was a tiny baby in my arms. The kids performed all of the songs and nursery rhymes that they have learned. I am so proud of my little boy.

Last but not least is the canvas that I made his teacher to remember the AM class by. The tutorial that I used was done by my friend Celina. I am not sure if she posted it yet or not, but check her out here. Thanks Celina for the wonderful directions. His teacher really liked it.

I wanted to use a mask to make the back round but it was not working, so I tried something new, and I must say I really like it. I painted the base of the canvas yellow and let it dry. Then I clear embossed a flower image over the yellow. For the final step I went little by little and painted a blue as the top coat. I then took a paper towel and rubbed it over the embossed image to bring the yellow through, I am really happy with this and I cant wait to make another one.

Gotta go now! The kids just broke out of their cage.

This has got to be on of my new favorite stamps. I found it at a garage sale for $1.50, and it was well worth it if you ask me.

I made this frame to hold Alex's hand print that he gave us for valentine's day. It was so cute, he came out of preschool and said"I heart you mommy" it made my day!The following are cards that I have made for my mom. Nothing special, but I am happy with how they came out.

Ramblings of a crazy woman

Things have defiantly been crazy around here the last few weeks, and if you ask Rob I am sure he will agree..lol. I have finally finished scrapping 2008 photos. Man it feels so good to have that book finished. I only had 3 LO's left to do. I also made 4 plaques for my scrap girls, and a frame for Lori's (ne,neh,ne,neh) birthday. The plaques were fun and easy to do and I am really happy with them. The papers came from the dollar spot at Michael's and are by colorbok.

This is the LO for Hannah's 10Th birthday that we had at Brunswick zone.

Good Times: This is from Rob's 35th birthday. The kids had so much fun making him the cake.

This is the picture frame that I made for Lori's birthday. The frame is from the dollar section at Michael's(I love that section :) ) I cut the swirls using my slice.

Here is the blushing bride...Cherie had a blast at her bachelorette party...an so did we..lol We bar hopped around downtown naperville and eventually called it a night at Tommy Nevins pub. That was definitely a blast and I am glad that I could join in!!

For the first time as husband and wife: Mr and Mrs. David Bruce!! Cherie and Dave tied the knot on Sunday at starved rock. It was a beautiful ceremony and i am glad that I was invited to share their special day with them. Cherie looked so beautiful in her dress and I am sure we will be scrapping the event as soon as they get back from the honeymoon.

Crazy couple of weeks

Well let me say that this post will be all over the place.

One of the coolest things happened for me on April fools day...I got to meet RENEE in person. Her husband Tim, their son Sean and Renee were on their way to Colorado and made a pit stop off in Chicago to spend the night. It was one of the coolest things to ever happen to me. Renee and I have been talking online and on the phone for sometime now and we had always talked about how cool it would be to meet in person. Let me tell you it was! I hope that one day I can go to CO to see her ;-)

Next, it wouldn't be Chicago if there wasn't crazy weather in the middle of spring. We got a little less than an inch of snow on April 6Th. It was a very heavy wet snow and it weighed all the trees down. It did look pretty, but I was glad when it all melted.

While I was waiting for Renee to arrive I made this key rack. Rob and I have been looking for about a week and had no luck finding anything. This started out as a picture frame and a bit of paper and paint later, it made the best key rack. I am really happy with how this turned out!(do you like it too??? Last but not least, I have finally made a LO. It has been over a month since I made an actual LO and I am very happy with how it turned out. Only 5 more LO's and I am all finished with 2009!

When good kids go bad.....

Soooooo....this is what I walked into Friday afternoon when I went to go and wake up the kids(they were supposed to be sleeping) from their nap. All my make up, everything thing that I own was smeared onto by bed. A whole tube of toothpaste was smeared onto my bed(its now minty fresh and has no cavity's..lol)

All my Blush and eye shadows were smashed into my blankets and my carpet...waterproof and regular mascara were "painted" onto my night stand

The bathroom was hit too. The little girl took EVERYTHING out of the cabinet and threw it everywhere. She opened a whole bag of cough drops and threw the wrappers on the floor and put all the drops on my bed.

Friday was definitely an interesting day

Happenings in my world

Well it has been a busy month here at our house. First off we will be moving into our new house on Sunday March 15Th. I am so excited. SO I will be busy packing all week so I thought that I would post some of what I have been making.

I have made tons of stuff but due to certain obligations I can not post them till later so please be sure to check back often to see what secrets I have up my sleeve :)
I have had the chance to make 2 layouts so far this month.

This is one of the kids first time sledding in 2008. Alex had never been on a big hill before and he had so much fun learning the ropes from his big sisters.

Sneak peek: OK I cant show you the whole LO because its for the design team(check back at the end of the month) But i wanted to show you that I made my own rub-ons. The title was made using my computer and a transparency. I will post the tutorial next week when our ning group has the crop(so check back for that)

Congratulations Kristina and Dave!! They got married last Saturday and this is the picture frame that I made them. I really love how it turned out!!

I have been busy again

Well I have been busy this week making gifts and cards for birthdays and thank you gifts. The cards above are my favorite!! I stamped in versamark ink and embossed with Black powder. I really like how they turned out and I think that this card will defiantly be one of my go to cards.

This is the birthday card that I made for Benjamin's 2nd birthday. Not much to it. The gifts and balloons are 3d..I used lots of pop-dots on the card

Well its Cherie's birthday today(happy birthday girl!!) so I of course made her a present. This is one of them...it was supposed to be a cupcake but I think that it looks more like a planter box...but I love it no matter what!

I also altered some picture frames this week. The big one is for Cherie and the 2 smaller ones are for other people.

Last but not least I have made another stamped candle. They are super easy to make and make a quick gift.That's all for now. I am off to go scrapping at Cherie's house...its time to break in her new scrapping room :) Happy Sunday everyone

Recent Project and 5 new Layouts

Well I have been super busy these past couple of weeks, but I have gotten quite a bit accomplished. First I have made these cute little wall hangings(pictured above and below) I got the stamps at Hobby Lobby for dirt cheep and I just had to get them. But now what do I do with them. I made these little wall hangings from coasters(thank you Diana). They are covered in paper, and embellished with beads, bling, wire, and handmade flowers. The one above started out saying "I love him more than anything except shopping of course" I X'd out the shopping and put scrapping(hehehe) The second one(below) says"my idea of cleaning is to sweep the room with a glance" I just love how they came out. Its all about me: this was done for Celina's Simon Says game during our crop on the ning group. Its from Isabella's 13th birthday.

4 new layouts...

Well I have managed to make 4 new layouts to add to my book. The one above is "lessons from dad" I did some real stitching and faux stitching on this LO.
The next one is from Alex's 5th birthday party, we had a pirate party. It is for a challenge on our ning group (found HERE) The sketch is from Julie Bonner

A perfect 10, this is from Hannah's party. the stamped image in the middle says"Every snowflake brings to mind how special you are you're one of a kind"Love Blooms, everything here was done using 3 sheets of paper. 2 of the same(the PP) and then the cream. I Cut the flowers and the swirls from the green side of the paper(the mat for the pictures too) I stamped the title in black ink and then embossed it with clear powder

I made this picture frame for my sister. Now that I have finished this I have now completed my goal, and can now start doing LO's again.

The frame started out plain wood. I then painted and covered it in paper. The papers used are from DCWV, the circle stamp is from See D's circle words.

To give the frame some "pop" I hand cut flowers from the paper and pop-dotted them up over the same flower image.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I am sure my sister will love it.

Almost done altering

I only have one more picture frame to go....YAY!!!! Here are the things that I have been working on. I have made 2 boxes, 50 magnets, 6 key chains(that will be used as tags for my bags when I go to a crop)

Here are the boxes that I made. The blue/purple one is for me, and the black one is for my mom.

The blue one was made using papers and die cuts from a die cuts with a view stack. I wanted to get rid of it and this was the perfect way to use them up.

The cutouts for the black one were all done using the slice(I love that thing)

I made these magnets using the crystals(or marbles what ever you want to call them) that you can get at Michael's that are flat on the bottom. I punched a circle, glued it to the bottom ,and then added a magnet. I love how easy they are and make a really quick gift. Last but not least are the key chains that I made. I found them in the dollar section at target. The back pops out so that you can personalize it. I decorated the front and then one the back I added my phone numbers. I am going to add them to my bags when I go to crops.

Inspire Me

This was a really fun project to make. I was shopping at Hobby Lobby (more Christmas clearance stuff) and I found the green bucket, pink garland, and the wooden star(that's actually an ornament) all for less than 1.00(for everything...nice right?) So I can home and looked in my stash and started to think. And this is what I came up with

I glued the pink garland to the top of the bucket using e6000 glue. Then I covered the star in paper and embossed flowers all over the black, then I cut a star using my slice and glued that down. I stamped "Inspire Me" in black and matted it twice. I then used pop-dots to adhere it to the star.

To make the little clip boards I covered white 4x4 cardboard coasters in paper and glued little clips to the top. I decorated each of them and then glued a wooden skewer that I covered in ribbon to the back.

The bucket is filled with foam and tissue paper 3/4 of the way up and then I topped it off with marbles(Alex picked out the pretty blue color) and then stuck the clip boards in. Right now its holding pictures of the kids but I plan on also using it to put swatches of color that I like and other things that inspire me onto it. I also plan on trying to join some atc swaps and then I will add those into the pot as well.Here it is by my desk with the photos on it. I really like this and I can not wait to add more stuff to it!

The weather today....-15 with a windchill of -35 to -40

Let me start by saying"Its flippin cold outside" The weather right now here in balmy Chicago is 15 below with a windchill that is 35-40 below. When we woke up this morning the thermostat read 63(I have it set at 73) Ummmm yeah do you see something wrong with that picture? Poor Alex was crying that he was cold, so we cuddled on the couch for a while(that doesn't happen often so it was very nice even though we were freezing)
I took some pictures of the ice on our windows and doors.

Above are the pictures I took of my living room windows. My blinds were frozen to the window sill.

Above is the ice/snow that has formed on the bottom of my front door(there is way more than that too, that is just a small part)

I will say that the snow looks very pretty. Here are a couple of pictures looking into my back yard.

Welcome to.....

MY MESS!!!! The "welcome" sign was another hobby lobby clearance find, at only 39 cents I couldn't leave it there. I had so much fun making this.

I have this sitting on my desk. Its very fitting too, you should see what my area looks like after about 30 minuets of me being in there.

I also picked up some really cute paper mache star boxes at hobby lobby too(do you see a theme here) I painted them and then heat embossed the pop out stars and the lid

My cousin just had a baby girl the other day and so I made her a picture frame from another find at hobby lobby. This was so much fun. I don't usually get to make things in pretty pinks with flowers and pearls. I am really happy with this one.

Last but not least, this was done for a challenge over on ning. We were challenged to take a container that was from something our child had used(formula containers, baby food jars stuff like that) Well Alex is to big for that stuff, so I used an empty can of cheesy pringles(his favorite chips)

I want to alter everything in my closet that I have bought on clearance. I want to finish everything before I start to scrap again. I am doing good too, I only have a few more things to finish. Over the past few days I have altered 3 different things. First I made a picture frame. I picked it up at hobby lobby for 1.00.

I started by painting the whole thing silver. Then using stazon I stamped the flourishes all over it. I hot glued ribbon to the back and added a flower and I was done. It was very easy and I love how it looks.

Next I altered a planner that I got at Michael's for .50 I didn't care for the dogs on the cover so I made it fit my taste.

I covered the whole thing inside and out in paper. I even added paper to the binder clip(nothing is safe from my glue :) )

Finally I made yet another picture frame(as if I needed another one hehehe) I got this one at hobby lobby for 1.00 too. I just added paper and buttons painted the edges and this one was pretty much done.(that's my little Alex in the yard this summer....he was spiderman)

Its about time....

I have finally gotten down to my "cave" and have been able to create some things. Last night I made a birthday gift for a friend. She really likes candles so I made her one. I took a stamp and stamped it many times onto tissue paper. Then I cut it out and using my heat gun and a piece of wax paper I created my design. I added small pearls to the center of the little flowers and poof the candle was done. To decorate the holder I just used wonder tape to ad hear my ribbon and I added a charm. I really like how it turned out and I think she will too.

I was also finally able to make something for me. I have been making so many Christmas gifts lately that I haven't had time to make much for myself. I went to hobby lobby last night and I picked up a paper mache cube ornament for 21 cents(80%off). You can't beat that. I covered it in paper and added some fun stuff and poof a really cute accessory for my desk.

My first altered canvas and acrlyic block

These are my first attempts at altering acrlyic blocks and canvas', and I must say I am very very pleased with how they turned out. The acrlyic block was super easy, and I plan on making more. To adhear the photo to the back of the block I used thermo-web and made the whole thing a giant sticker. I used black staz -on for the flourishes and rub-ons for the numbers.

First I wanted to say thank you to Diane Davies. She sent me this stamped image that she had found at hobby lobby(i think). I have been wanting to make a canvas but could never find the "right" image for it. This is now hanging in my scrap room and is one of my favorite things that I have made. I started by painting the whole canvas chocolate brown. I then added the papers using modge podge.

I used stampin up chalks and blender pens to color in the image. I used the same chocolate paint by making memories to add to the edge of the image. The flourishes were cut using the making memories slice and the basics 3 card.

I wanted to add some more color so I used glue dots. I put them down randomly on the brown and then I dusted them with more chalk, and added light green bling to the top.

To finish it off I layered some flowers and added to the corner. I am really please with how these turned out

Slice ornament and gift bag

I was surfing you tube for videos using the slice and I found these 2 ideas. The star is from the Basics one card(this card comes with the machine) I cut it out of 8 different papers at 4 inches tall. Then I folded them and glued them together. I also Cut the window for the bag using the scalloped square at 2 1/2 inches, and added acetate behind it. They are super easy to make and look super cute in the gift bag.

I have been very busy this month. I have made 12 ornaments(3 of the ones shown and 9 others that I will post a pic of later) and a few LOs. I also made my christmas cards, I saw how to make them on a blog that I follow by dawn griffith. I have done more LOs but I have to take pictures of them again. The Greatest show on earth

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Baily Circus...THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH....and let me tell you it sure is. This is the second time that alex has been to the circus with his Papa. It was something that my dad did with my sister and I every year when we were younger and I am glad that I can do it with my kids.

When we got there we were able to take alex down to the arena and he could meet clowns, and we saw an elephant paint a picture, and some of the motor cycles that they used in the show. He was amazed and the show hasn't even started yet.

We go back up to get to our seats and of course no circus would be compleate without a light up toy. Alex picked one with motor cycles. I watched my sons eyes light up with pure joy as the show began. He loved it all...everything was so cool. We saw lots of things that were amazing. A man walked upside down in mid-air with no safty(think of when they walk the tight rope...except this was upside down and kinda like monkey bars for your feet) We saw a motorcycle ride the tight rope and spin a compleate 360 degree circle. We also saw 7 motor cycles ride in a giant metal ball.

We had so much fun. Poor alex was tired though and he couldnt make it through the whole show and he missed the last 10 min, but he didn't care, he has been talking about it since sunday morning.

I will do post in a little while with some of my scrappy realated things(since this is called kathys scrap chat)

Its Christmas time again

Well its that time of year again, Christmas is right around the corner. In this house that means that mommy disapears down to her "cave" to work on christmas gifts and decorations. Yesterday I made 2 things. The snow globes are going to be gifts(I still need like 8 more to make :) ) and the tree will be a decoration.

The snow globe was found on splitcoast stampers. I didnt have colored sharpies so I used paint. For the snowflakes behind the snowman(they are hard to see but they are there) I also used paint. I made a pad out of paper towells and pressed mt stamp to it and there you go. I had tried pigment ink but it took forever to dry.

Next I made the Tree. Let me tell you that was a labor of love. I wanted to make 3 of them but we will have to see. The original directions said to use a dowell rod(for the trunk) and a clay pot for the base. I didnt have those so I used a pencil that i covered in ribbon and a fruit can. I am very happy with how it turned out :)

Busy, Busy, Busy

WOW, I havn't written in a while. I have been super with the kids that I watch during the day.

I did how ever get a few things done this week. My Mom and Dad bought me the Slice by Making Memories so that has help get my MOJO back.(I was in a slump for a bit) Let me tell you that thing is great!!!! I have gotten a few things done this week.

Here is the LO that I did for when we went apple picking. I am really happy with this one. The apples are cut using the slice

For some reason this one keeps on flipping when I try and post and I am just too tired to figure it out(renee did you jinx me???) This is for my moms album

Here is Belle. The flowers and the tag were also cut using the slice. This is also for my moms book

I have also just finished making alexs birthday invites(all 32 of them) He wants a Pirate party and this is what I was able to come up with. I am really happy with these too(and alexs loves them) The stars were also cut using the slice

Last but not least here are the kids all dressed up and ready to go trick-or-treating. Alex had so much fun with his sisters. This is the first time they have all been together on Halloween(they are usually at their moms house for halloween) The kids had a blast and at the end of the night I gave them silly string to play with . They all had a blast.

Thats it for now I am off to bed.

Be sure to check it out, they always have fun stuff going on over there!!

The Great Pumpkin tutorial

I got this idea from dawn griffith but I have changed it a little bit. I will give you the measurements to make 3 different sizes. The picures in the tutorial are for the large one.
Things you will need:
paper trimmer, 12x12 double sided patterened paper, green CS scraps, a complimentary piece of double sided paper for vines(will explain later), length of ribbon at least 1/4 of an inch thick to match(i used brown) Pencil, small hole punch(1/8 is what I used, small side on a crop-o-dile)
I am going to give you the measurements for the 3 sizes. Just apply which ever size you choose to the pictures the directions are the same.
sm: cut PP to 51/2 x10 and cut into 10~1"strips
med: cut PP to 6 1/2 x 11 and cut into 11~1" strips
Large: cut PP to 7 1/2 x 12 and cut into 12~1" strips
After you have cut your pp to size stack them and punch a hole at each end(if your using a crop-o-dile you can do it all at once if using a different hole punch only do a few at a time)

after you have punched both sides it should look like this

Next take your ribbon and tie a knot in one end. You are then going to thread it through one end of your strips so the the Pattern of your choice is on the outside. Then thread it through the other hole so that it looks like this

You are then going to "fan" out your strips so that they will look like a pumpkin

Next your going to take your green scraps and fold them in half. Your going to cut out a leaf shape(remember when you floded a paper in half to cut out a heart...same thing just make a leaf) you need 2 of these one just a bit smaller than the first

you are then going to cut 2-3 tiny 12 in or so strips from the other peice of PP and wrap them around a pencil to make them curly

To finish you are going to glue the vines and the leaves to the top of the pumpkin to look like thishere are my 3 pumpkins...they look so pretty on my fireplace mantle

Apple Picking

I can't believe that it has been so long since my last post. Things have been crazy. I babysit now for a 4 1/2 year old and her 2 1/2 year old twin brother and sister. It really takes alot out of you.

We took the kids apple picking last weekend and let me tell you that the best part(other than eating the apples) was leaving. The bugs were terriable. We all left with lots of little reminders that we were there.

When we got home we called the family over and we made caramel apples. YUMMY they are so good. Here we are enjoying some apples:

My new way to store ribbon

I was blog surfing one day and I saw this awesome idea to store the ribbon that you get by the yard(please forgive me I can not remember the blog I lifted this from or I would put the original link in) The lady that came up with this is a genius. All you do is wrap the ribbon around an "old fashioned" clothes pin and secure it with a a peralized pin. The lady that originally did this had all of her ribbon divided into clear glass jars, and it looked so pretty. I hope to do that eventually but for now all of them are in a clear storage tub. Let me tell you, I just love this idea. It really helped me to condense all of my ribbon into one place. I didn't realize how much ribbon I had untill I did this, I had enough ribbon to cover about 95 cloths pins

I love to alter things, I have made many many projects but here are a few of my favorites. The picture frame hold my very first mothers day present from my son that he made me at preschool.

I love to make the clocks. The one pictured is actually the second one that I have made for my house, and is in my scrap space. I have made a total of 6 clock in different themes.

I am very excited to be apart of this. This month she gave us 2 sketches and we had to make an altered item. I made a paper bag calendar. I was super excited to make this because I got to use my new sewing maching for the stiching around the edges. I am really pleased with how everyting turned out
